Tour à la Roberto Henriquez

Five iconic wines from an iconic producer. Roberto Henriquez produces wine from 200-year-old grapes located at the southern end of the Bìo Bìo riverbank. He farms all the land himself, with the help of some of his favourite furry friends. Henriquez is focused on traditional winemaking using few modern industrial tools. He farms organically and biodynamically as uses minimus sulfur if any at all. His wines are all single-vineyard, showcasing the unique and complex terroir in the Bìo Bìo valley.

This pack includes:

1 x Molino del Ciego 2020 Skin Contact Semillon
This Semillon comes from a one hectare block of 90-year-old vines planted on Itata's granitic soils surrounded by the local herbs and plants of the Itata Valley. It is hand harvested, destemmed, and allowed to naturally ferment with it's skins in tanks lasting throughout fermentation.

1 x Rivera del Notro Blanco 2020 Skin Contact Moscatel, Semillon, and Corinta
The fruit for this wine comes from his neighbours, where he manages their plots of vines which are around 100-years-old.It is hand harvested, destemmed, and allowed to naturally ferment with it's skins in tanks lasting throughout fermentation.

1 x Tierra de Pumas 2020 Pais
The Pais comes from a historic vineyard of 200+ year old vines near Santa Juana. It is likely one of the oldest vineyard sites in Chile, planted on sedimentary red clays and old volcanic soils.

1 x Pais Franco 2020 Pais
The Pais comes from a vineyard of 4,700 vines planted on extremely nutrient-poor black sand soils. This site, on what was once in the distant past, a bank of the river of Bìo Bìo, is extremely difficult for the vines, and they produce a small number of small bunches. As a result, Roberto once regarded the site as unimportant- yet, the character of the wine has convinced him otherwise- it shows a special and appealing delicacy and purity of the red fruit.

1 x Santa Cruz de Coya 2020 Pais
The fruit for this wine comes from a truly special and very old vineyard that is very isolated and tucked into the mountains. Vines are short and bush trained, planted on quartz and granite soils, and immersed in the ecosystem of the valley/ The particularities of the location (the microclimate, it's isolation, the completeness of the ecosystem) preclude the need for sulfur or copper treatments in the vineyard, allowing for a more-than-organic method of farming.
